Stripez Writes With Wretch 32

What made you enter the competition, and how did you feel when you found out you’d won?

When I saw the competition, I thought it would be a great platform and opportunity for me to showcase my talent. I had a lot of support from fans, the media and fellow musicians which helped push me into the top 10, where I was personally selected by Wretch 32 and his management. 

When I found out I’d won, I was buzzing. I’d just woken up so I was still in bed when I got the message, and I just went crazy for five minutes!

What do you like about Wretch 32?

How cool and down-to-earth he is. Musically, he’s one of the best lyricists in the UK at the moment and I’ve been watching his career for a while – his journey really inspires me.

What was it like to work on a track with him?

Working on a track with Wretch 32 was and will be one of the biggest highlights of my career in music so far. He was cool and determined to help make the track the best it could be.As soon as he heard the beat, he came up with an amazing chorus and performed it. We were also joined in the studio by Jacob Banks, who added his singing voice to the track to help make it a banger.

What's your best memory of the day?

After the studio sessions, he actually invited me to dinner with some of his contacts, some really influential people that I could network with.

What are you going to take from the experience?

It’s shown me that hard work pays off. I’m going to work even harder from now on, using the opportunity Wretch has given me as a platform to develop my career.
